The Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences (https://www.psych.udel.edu) at the University of Delaware (UD) invites enthusiastic and scholarly educators to apply for an Assistant Professor faculty position (Continuing Track, or CT). This is a teaching-focused faculty position, area open. The successful candidate will join our group of 37 core faculty, which includes 8 teaching-focused CT faculty, starting on September 1, 2023.

This is an opportunity for an inspiring educator to join and strengthen the growing Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences and its teaching missions. Our department is committed to providing quality undergraduate educational experiences within a research-focused department. CT faculty are UD's permanent non-tenure track. CT faculty enjoy contracts that increase in length over time, as well as most of the same benefits as tenure-track and tenured faculty, such as identical titles and benefits, a parallel promotion track, sabbaticals, and shared faculty governance. The University of Delaware in Newark, Delaware, is only a short drive or train commute from Philadelphia, PA. UD is also within driving distance of New York City, Baltimore, Washington DC, the Poconos and some of the finest beaches in the country, making it an ideal location for day or weekend trips.

QUALIFICATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The position involves teaching three or four undergraduate courses a semester, regularly including quantitative courses such as statistics, research methods, or advanced research methods. The ideal candidate would design and teach courses that engage students in contemporary methodological and statistical practices. We are also seeking a candidate who can regularly teach a content course such as introductory psychology, developmental, social, cognitive, personality, or psychopathology. Applicants for this position must have earned a Ph.D. in psychology or a related field and have some experience teaching and mentoring undergraduates. Successful candidates should provide evidence that they are engaged in evidence-based and reflective teaching practices and are interested in a teaching-focused faculty career.

SALARY AND BENEFITS: Compensation packages are highly competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. The UD benefits package is one of the best in the nation, and includes tuition assistance for dependents. CT faculty follow the same salary structures as tenure-track faculty.
